We Need Investment in Infrastructure

One of the first things I initiated when taking the role of Chairman of the Town Council was the development of our Neighbourhood Plan. This means we will receive 25% of the Community Infrastructure Levy paid by developers instead of the 15% we would have received without a Plan. The Levy can be used by the Town Council to support our local infrastructure.
The extra 10% received by the town will be very important as we see a huge increase in housing numbers, with over 700 new homes being proposed in the next 15 years. That will mean more residents with more demand on resources. More children at the schools, more young people needing activities, and more people wanting to see the doctors and dentists. We need more money.
South Norfolk Council may provide all of the CIL money up front rather than in stage payments and in some cases may double the money. I understand the needs of the town and will best present the case for Harleston to receive the maximum possible payments.
