The Earth Society Foundation, New York, an international organisation promoting peace and care for the planet has awarded Harleston Sancroft Academy Primary Phase its Earth Trustee Certificate for the pupils work to help the town launch Harleston’s Nature Recovery … WeCan programme.

I was honoured to be invited to present the school with their Earth Trustee Certificates on behalf of the Earth Society Foundation.
It was wonderful to see the enthusiastic, happy smiling faces of the children. There are some exciting plans for the school:
Nature earth day has been timetabled in each year where the children will embark on activities relating to caring for our world.
A wildflower meadow is to be created to attract insects and provide a nurturing habitat for a variety of wildlife and at the same time, educate the children and provide a space to retreat for mental health and wellbeing.
Butterfly friendly areas with buddleia trees around the school field will be planted and the school pond will be brought back to life with a new wooden bridge and platform to enable pond dipping and secure fencing. They will be looking for volunteers to help with the pond.
I collected decorated cut out butterflies and messages the children have prepared telling of how they will help wildlife. These will form a large display in St John’s Church, Harleston as part of a public launch of the Nature Recovery initiative on 11 March.
