My Messages to You

The Government has directed that all counties throughout the country must transition to a single tier of local governance.  Norfolk have both a County level and District level councils and must move to a single Unitary Authority Council.  There is a demanding timescale for the change.  The reorganisation will undoubtedly bring challenges but will hopefully streamline the governance process and put local people more in control of local matters.

The proposal is that Norfolk and Suffolk will combine as a single Strategic Authority with an elected Mayor.  Each County would then consist of one or more Unitary Authorities.  The structure of these authorities is under discussion.
